crossmark policy

The Naveen International Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies (NIJMS) is committed to maintaining the integrity, transparency, and reliability of the scholarly record. To ensure that readers can verify the current status of published content, NIJMS participates in the Crossmark service provided by Crossref.

The application of the Crossmark logo reflects NIJMS’s commitment to maintaining its published content and alerting readers to any updates, corrections, or changes when they occur.

What is Crossmark?

Crossmark is a multi-publisher initiative developed by Crossref that provides a standardized way for readers to locate the authoritative version of a document.

By clicking the Crossmark icon, readers can:

  • Verify the current status of a document

  • Access corrections, updates, or retractions

  • View additional publication information and metadata

Scope of Crossmark in NIJMS

Crossmark is applied to all current and future journal content published by NIJMS that is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI).

Articles published as “Online First” or “Articles in Press” may not display the Crossmark icon until they are assigned final publication details.

Commitment to Content Integrity

NIJMS recognizes the importance of maintaining a complete and trustworthy scholarly record. The journal ensures that all updates to published content are handled transparently and are clearly communicated to readers through Crossmark.

Types of Post-Publication Updates

NIJMS recognizes the following categories of updates and publication types:

  • Addendum: Additional information added after publication that enhances the original article.

  • Corrigendum: Issued when authors identify errors that may affect the accuracy or interpretation of the work.

  • Erratum: Issued when errors introduced during the editorial or production process are identified.

  • Retraction: Issued when significant issues invalidate the findings or ethical standards are violated.

  • Removal: In rare cases, the article content (including PDF) may be removed with a formal explanation.

  • Replacement: A corrected version of a retracted article is republished, with clear linkage to the original.

  • Correspondence: Letters to the editor and author responses related to published articles.

  • Book Reviews: Scholarly evaluations of published books.

  • Research Articles, Notes, and Preliminary Papers: Standard scholarly contributions covered under Crossmark.

Corrections and Updates Policy

1. Minor Corrections

Minor errors such as typographical or formatting issues that do not affect the scientific integrity of the article may be corrected without issuing a formal notice. These changes will be reflected in the Crossmark record.

2. Major Corrections

Errors that affect the validity, interpretation, or reliability of the content will be corrected through formal notices (Erratum or Corrigendum).
All corrections will be:

  • Clearly identified

  • Linked to the original article

  • Permanently accessible

  • Reflected in the Crossmark status

Retraction and Removal Policy

Articles may be retracted or removed under the following circumstances:

  • Evidence of unreliable or invalid findings

  • Plagiarism or duplicate publication

  • Ethical misconduct

  • Data fabrication or falsification

Retraction procedures include:

  • Publication of a formal retraction notice

  • Retention of the original article with clear retraction marking (e.g., watermark)

  • Linking between the original article and the retraction notice

  • Updating the Crossmark status

Version Control and Record Maintenance

NIJMS preserves the Version of Record (VoR) and ensures that any post-publication changes are documented transparently. Readers can access the full update history through the Crossmark system.
